Farming

Falling Branch Brewery is Harford County, MD’s first farm brewery. It is located on a small farm in Street, MD that has been in the Galbreath family since 1924. The farm has seen many changes over the years, going from swine, to dairy, to now a mixed-use beer farm, all while remaining in the family. As a fourth-generation family farm and Harford County, MD’s first farm brewery, farming is an extremely important part of who we are. We strive to source as many high quality beer ingredients as possible from our farm and from other farms in the area.

Ingredients We Grow: In addition to the variety of more common crops that we grow on our farm, such as corn and soybeans, we also produce a range of beer ingredients. Four varieties of hops grown on site are used in our beers year round: Cascade, Nugget, Willamette and Mt. Hood. We also grow several seasonal beer ingredients, including pumpkins, blackberries and lavender.

Other Local Ingredients: We at Falling Branch Brewery use an assortment of locally produced ingredients from other family farms. Chesapeake Malting Co.’s handcrafted malt from barley grown on Hopkins Farm in Havre de Grace is used in several of our beers year round. Seasonally, we use fresh strawberries, peaches, watermelon and other fruits grown by variety of farms in Harford and Baltimore County.
